In 2019 I created a series of portraits of local artists in the Boston area, and then in 2022 I decided to paint over them and add some layers of fun and chaos while letting some of the old portraits shine through, an eye or a nose. This feels like the layers of life, one idea and experienced layered with another, the perspective of time changing how we view the past too. And this painting just represents a shift that happened in my art from serious realism to chaos, fun and play. I also loved using oil paints and oil sticks for something that feels very unserious like a Canada goose. That sure makes me happy. Life feels too serious, so I say let's paint a goose.
